On Wednesday, May 25th, we had the chance to run with Seanna Robinson, nine-time marathoner, Ironman, and founder of RunningWell. She taught us some running drils for form, improving speed, stability, and injury prevention! Want to try them out on your own? Click here to download a print out to take with you on your next run!
While most Torontonians last night were indulging in bar food and beer, we were out running through the 6ix! Last night, Smart Girls Sweat hosted our first running event. We had 35 amazing professional women join us Downtown Toronto to run, network, and hear from two amazing speakers.
We started the night at Workhaus, an awesome co-working space near St. Lawrence market. The entrepreneurial vibes were perfect, since we had two entrepreneurs as our speakers. Seanna Robinson, nine-time marathoner, Ironman and founder of RunningWell Inc. lead our running workout at Sugar Beach. We did a 1km jog warm-up, followed by some running drills for form, speed, and injury prevention. Not only was it a great workout, but it was a great session for all the runners with big races coming up this weekend!
After we worked up a sweat, we jogged back to Workhaus for some healthy snacks and drinks. We enjoyed some coconut water from Jax Coco, some delicious cold-pressed organic juice from Elxr Juice Lab, date power balls from Katila, and fermented Greek Yogurt proteins+ bars from Genuine Health! Thank you so much to all the amazing companies who hooked us up with post-run fuel!
We had two amazing female founders as guest speakers – Seanna Robinson and Lisa Mattam. Seanna is the founder of RunningWell Inc., and Lisa is the founder of Sahajan. Before we started the speaking portion of the night, Lisa lead us in a moment of mindfulness and we got to sample some of Sahajan’s incredible-smelling body oil. Both of our speakers have corporate backgrounds and have successfully made the jump to entrepreneurship in the wellness industry. We talked about entrepreneurship, work-life balance and how to do work that you love.
We ended the night with an hour of the most relaxed, open and sweaty networking I’ve ever seen! Thank you so much to our incredible speakers, sponsors, and to the amazing women who came out and did something good for themselves and their careers!
